We are all motivated to accomplish things and, for some, great things. This motivation often comes from the desire to triumph over tragedy. We discover our passion after experiencing pain. We aim not for what was but for what we want instead. A new beginning, a new normal and a new standard.
In order to accomplish this new goal, desire and manifest our intention, we must first commit to the journey.
The Hero’s Journey has three overall stages, each promising its own opportunity for personal growth and expansion through awareness and experience.
These are; The Departure, The Initiation, and The Return.
1) The Departure
Having no longer been afforded the gift of naivety, we are given a choice to live a new life and follow a new path. We have the choice; we can depart from our ordinary world and heed the call for adventure, the call for change. We can also choose to refuse this call. If we depart, however, we are likely to attract new people into our world and find ourselves a trusted mentor and guide. Someone who knows our path and has walked it before. A wise one, and what their help, we will cross the threshold of discovery.
2) The Initiation
This initiation is our test, our proof of commitment and worthiness to rise to our higher standards; it challenges us to level up to our greater potential. It is both an ordeal and an opportunity to reap a reward we have not yet savoured.
3) The Return
Once we have accomplished our goal and completed our journey, we now return home. We return never the same but now wiser and closer to our self-actualization. We are, in fact, a hero. We can now share our wisdom, our experiences, and our acquired knowledge. In doing so, we are renewed and emerged from a Chrysalis ready to slay the next challenge that presents itself.
I encourage you to embrace the journey and let emerge the hero in you and let those around reap the benefit of your triumph.
